LP standard-bearer Sen. Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III’s position to simply leave Hacienda Luisita runs counter to social justice and agrarian reform. The actuation of Hacienda Luisita’s management, giving farmers an Oct. 30, 2009 ultimatum “to discontinue and desist from using, cultivating, planting or possessing the lands,” shows that the Cojuangco-Aquino family will not let go of the property.

On behalf of Alliansi Gerakan Reforma Agraria or Alliance of Agrarian Reform Movement (AGRA), a member of the Asian Peasant Coalition (APC) in Indonesia, we are writing you regarding the 7.3 earthquake that hit West Java on September 2.

One of the areas worst damage was Pangalengan, Bandung. Pangalengan is a strong mass base of AGRA, thousand of their members lived there. More than 80% of houses were destroyed affecting thousand farmers and their families including house of Rahmat, AGRA national officer.

Nothing against us, nothing without us.” This is the forum of people’s organizations, social movements and NGOs parallel to the World Summit on Food Security on November 16-18, 2009 in Rome propsed by the FAO Director-General Jacques Diouf to agree on key actions to tackle global economic crisis by affecting jobs and deepening poverty.
