The Pagkakaisa para sa Tunay na Repormang Agraryo (PATRIA) and Resistance and Solidarity Against Agro-chemical TNCs (RESIST) gathered more than a crowd of 100 participants in a forum tackling the US’ role in the landlessness in the Philippines. The event entitled “Feeding Lies, Subverting Agrarian Reform” filled up the College of Communication Auditorium in the University of the Philippines Diliman in Quezon City last October 8.

MANILA – Decades of liberalization of agriculture did not bring development but losses in agriculture and further impoverishment of Filipino farmers.
More than 3.000 peasants from ten villages led by the Aliansi Gerakan Reforma Agraria – Alliance of Agrarian Reform Movement (AGRA) Bulukumba, occupied Lonsum rubber agricultural plantation since 12th of August. The occupation is a struggle to reclaim peasants’ land which was grabbed by Lonsum Ltd. In 1968.
On 12th of August, thousands of these peasants held protest in front of Bulukumba Regent’s Office demanding a settlement of the conflict. They met the Head of Bulukumba Land Division and Local Government Welfare and Development which acts on behalf of Bulukumba Regent.
