Malacañang hit for exempting 435-hectare Rizal land from CARP (Philippines: March 2, 2014)

THE Kilusang Magbubukid ng Pilipinas on Sunday hit Malacañang for exempting a 435-hectare land in Rodriguez, Rizal, from the Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program (CARP).

KMP Deputy Secretary-General Willy Marbella said the decision of Executive Secretary Paquito Ochoa should be investigated by the committee on agrarian reform of the House of Representatives.

The Oplan Sagip Kanayunan started its rehabalitation efforts to survivors of typhoon Haiyan

The Oplan Sagip Kanayunan (Oplan Rescue Countryside) or OSK started its rehabilitation efforts in selected peasant communities last February 7 to 9, 2014. We were able to distribute organic seeds (rice and vegetables) and motors for the peasant organizations in Mutyong, Western Samar. Solon urges govt to remove agriculture from WTO pact (Feb. 15, 2014)

A LAWMAKER on Saturday urged the government through House Resolution 583 to remove the Philippines agriculture from the Agreement on Agriculture of the World Trade Organization (WTO).

Party-list Rep. Fernando Hicap of Anakpawis said since the Philippines’s entry to the WTO, several anti-peasant laws were passed by the body, most of which are within the framework of the World Bank market-assisted land reform and free-market globalization.
