Philippine Embassy in Washington, DC hosts Roundtable Dialogue for Congressman Mariano

We would like to share with you the news from the Philippine Embassy at Washington, DC in the United States (US) regarding Rep. Rafael Mariano's visit in the US recently.
 
Philippine Ambassador to the United States Jose L. Cuisia, Jr. hosted Congressman Rafael V. Mariano (Anakpawis Partlyist) at the Embassy last June 29 for a roundtable dialogue with representatives of the Filipino American community. 
 
The event enabled Congressman Mariano, also the National Chairperson of the Kilusang Magbubukid ng Pilipinas (KMP) or Peasant Movement of the Philippines, to share socio-economic concerns such as agrarian reform and rural development, labor and employment, and prospects as to how Filipinos in the U.S. can take an active part in contributing to the Philippines’ developmental goals

02/07/2012: Embassy Hosts Roundtable Dialogue for Congressman Mariano

02 July 2012, Washington DC. Philippine Ambassador to the United States Jose L. Cuisia, Jr. hosted Congressman Rafael V. Mariano (PL-Anakpawis) at the Embassy last June 29 for a roundtable dialogue with representatives of the Filipino American community.

The event enabled Congressman Mariano to share socio-economic concerns such as agrarian reform and rural development, labor and employment, and prospects as to how Filipinos in the U.S. can take an active part in contributing to the Philippines’ developmental goals.

During the dialogue, Ambassador Cuisia noted that Anakpawis is among the most active party-list groups with numerous bills pending in the House of Representatives, including those that pertain to agrarian reform, wage increase, conversion of agricultural land, and the rice and coconut industries.

A native of Quezon, Nueva Ecija, Congressman Mariano is Vice-chairperson of the House Committee on Agriculture and member of the Congressional Oversight Committee on Labor and Employment. (END)
